Where This Started
Glynn Spangenberg helped catalyze the mirrorless truck concept by challenging a century-old assumption: that mirrors are “good enough.”
That work reshaped visibility standards and proved something simple. Traditional mirrors limit perception, and technology can expand what drivers can know.
But it also revealed the deeper issue:

Modern trucks don’t lack video. They produce more visual data than ever. The problem is interpretation and timing:

Around the same time, autonomy accelerated what was technically possible. Glynn’s question became unavoidable: if machines can perceive enough to drive, why wouldn’t we use that intelligence to support the professional drivers on the road today?
That question is the origin of VisionWise: bringing machine perception to the cab—not to replace the driver, but to protect them, the people around them, and the legacies that can change in a split second.
